It’s Time to Re-Render Your Web Rendering Strategy

There is an old saying that you may have heard of before: "put the cart before the horse". It is said that this supposedly stems from a late '90s horse ride-sharing web application whereby you couldn't confirm your horse until after you had finished paying for your empty cart. Translated to more modern terms, it meant that you're doing things in the wrong order. So, if history has taught us anything, it is that problems in web development repeat themselves. Web patterns and techniques from decades ago are making a comeback and we should be asking ourselves why. In this talk, we'll discuss why we should consider the web rendering strategy before we consider the web rendering tooling. We'll examine rendering strategies such as server-side rendering (SSR), client-side rendering (CSR), static site generation (SSG), and incremental static regeneration (ISR). Finally, we'll take our knowledge of these strategies and combine the with web rendering tooling such as Next.js and Remix.
